Default Intermittent disconnects - Comcast

Has anyone had intermittent disconnecting with the Comcast Internet service? I'm using a Linksys wireless router. Every one to four days I'll get a disconnect and have to reset my router.

If it's the integrated Cable Modem/Router that comcast leases, you probably need to call comcast and have them upgrade the modem's firmware. I've had a few friends with the same problem. Upgrading the firmware seems to fix the problem. I myself bought a Motorola Surfboard 5100 several years ago and it never looses connection.

The only time I had problems was when CC had Nameserver problems for about a week, but I just manually configured my router to use another nameserver so I was unaffected.

I purchased a linksys cable modem as well as a linksys wired/wireless router from Best Buy some years ago. There are periods where my connection will drop and won't reset, so I have to unplug the power on the router to get it to reset. I've been tempted to upgrade the rom on the router but I'm afraid of messing it up.
I've also thought about contacting Comcast, but I don't know if they would support the Linksys modem's firmware.
